New Mexico PED & Canvas

New Mexico PED & Canvas Partnership
The New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) pursued an emergency procurement plan in the summer of 2020 to acquire the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) as a statewide LMS option for all districts and schools in New Mexico. A trust consortium was created allowing accounts at the local level to also integrate with the PED.
The PED uses Canvas for all types of internal learning activities for bureaus, initiatives, and other projects. Access to Canvas can be closed where only enrolled users are allowed, open/public to anyone with the link, or a combination of both depending upon the needs of the audience. In addition, courses can be listed in Catalog, allowing for PED employees, district/charter staff, or the public to view learning options available to them.
