Excel NM Reports

The Excel NM End of Year (EOY) Performance Assessment results (Supervisor Completes with Coaching Conversation) for an entire LEA, can be accessed through the default Canvas reports within your Excel NM LEA account. Once again, a person needs to have the correct roles and permissions, i.e. View Only, to be able to generate these reports.

The End of Year (EOY) Performance Assessment is the only Excel NM evaluation activity aligned to Canvas Outcomes (see below) and therefore the only account-level data that can be created. The other evaluation activities are specific to the individual being evaluated within a school and their different emphasis on the Five Essential Practices. The data cannot be pulled at the main LEA account level since every evaluatee has unique information as part of the evaluation cycle and there are no alignments to Outcomes.

Note: Whenever rubric ratings are saved, the data is captured regardless of the evaluation activity being marked as Complete, Excused, or Missing. It is possible to temporarily pause this feature, and directions are available under the 'Using Canvas Page' in every evaluation course.

What are Canvas Outcomes and how are they part of Excel NM?

Outcomes in Canvas are standards that are used to track evaluations and mastery.

All Excel NM rubrics utilize the performance ratings of "Innovating," "Applying," "Developing," "Minimally Demonstrating," and "No Evidence.

Mastery in Canvas is defined as "Applying" or "Innovating."

Outcomes can also be tracked at the school course level in the Learning Mastery Gradebook. However, only the EOY Performance Evaluation activity is visible since it is aligned to Excel NM Outcomes.

Click on the Admin Shield (in the Global Navigation on the far left of your Canvas screen) to start.

📍Tip! - The Admin Shield is part of the View Only role and its permissions that are given automatically to LEA superintendents, assistant superintendents, charter school leaders, and human resource directors if it was requested. Reach out to the PED if you need assistance with either role.

Select the year you would like to view the reports for, i.e. ExcelNM | SY 24/25.

Select Settings in the navigation menu.

📍Tip! - You can tell what school year account you are in by the breadcrumbs menu at the top.

Click on the Reports tab and find the Outcome Results Report.

Select the Configure button for the Outcome Results Report. When the pop-up screen appears, select the year of the report and then press the Run Report button.

A message will appear when the pop-up window closes that the report is being generated. When it is complete, you will see a time/date stamp and the download icon for saving the data as a CSV file. The report can be downloaded at any time and you can generate a new report if needed. The CSV file will allow you to sort the data according to a school or evaluatee and can be used in conjunction with saving the data in the format required for your LEA personnel policies. Please note there are many columns with Canvas information that can be deleted. Each evaluatee should have a row for each Element rating. (All PED Canvas courses are saved and archived according to state retention policies.) Please see the Elevate NM Custom Reports page for tips on printing evaluations if this is required by your LEA.
