Black Education Act School Support Series | 2022

This virtual series is designed for District, Charter School, and Tribal leaders as well as school personnel to provide live technical support and information about the requirements of the Black Education Act and how to fulfill them. Our goal is to offer practical strategies and opportunities to engage with other student-centered professionals. Recordings for each session are provided below.

August 8, 2022: Black Education Act 101

This practical session provides a detailed overview of the Black Education Act (BEA) requirements for district and charter schools. A bonus feature is a guided tour to access the FREE Meeting the Moment anti-racism training.

August 12, 2022: Hotline 101

This session, facilitated by Devon Williams, the Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression Hotline Manager, will provide information about the hotline, including its purpose, guidelines, and how to submit a referral.

August 19, 2022: DASH Ed Plan Reporting 101

In an effort to reduce the reporting burden, BEA will use the PED DASH portal for districts and charters to upload the required discipline policy language and training plans. This session provides a guided tour of how to access and complete this requirement.

The Black Education Act

Although the Black Education Act was created to support improvements in education for Black students, the statute language includes tools to support all students, including the hotline, mandatory anti-racism training, and district policies to combat racially charged behaviors in schools.
